Signboards by students

Last month I co-conducted a typography module at Pearl Academy of Design in Mumbai with Tanya George. It was a lot of fun interacting with this enthusiastic batch of students and I always cherish the discussions that are involved with assignments done in class.

As a part of the module, the students worked on designing a signboard for local street food vendors around the school. It was great fun seeing the students explore Devanagari lettering styles, taking inspiration from the amazing tradition of hand painted letters from all over India.

Here are some images from the class showcasing the process and some fun final sign boards with their happy clients.

Big shout out to the enthusiastic students who made these fun sign boards!
